ExporeCTE.com is a website designed to help students explore their educational options related to future careers. It also provides opportunities for teachers and counselors to connect in ways that strengthen CTE pathways and options for students in middle school, high school, and community college.
The goal of Career and Technical Education (CTE) is to ensure that all students are college and career ready. This is accomplished through the linking of academic and technical courses that prepare students for graduation from high school and transition into college to prepare for high-skill, high demand careers.
During middle school (or earlier), students should begin to explore the broad range of careers available in California’s 15 industry sectors. Once a student reaches high school, they can begin a career focused education that prepares them for high school graduation, college, and their future career. CTE courses in high schools and community colleges are organized into career “pathways.” These pathways are designed to integrate academic concepts with hands-on technical skills and create a seamless transition from high school to college and, most importantly, into a job (or career).
